Story of my life

‘The many gap years’

In the years since I have finished high school I have (probably) grown in many ways. However my ambitions seem to have reverted to that of my four year old self. You remember when you felt you could do anything and the thought excited you? Now knowing I could do anything make my hands sweat. I think I have been through as many perspective career choices as I have hair changes (30) all of which seem like my dream come true. Till I see some young twenty something, develop a girl crush and decided that actually whatever they do has been my big dream for years and I just didn’t know it.
I have done many different courses before I fell the social pressure and I ‘decided’ to go to university. What I would be studying there has been irrelevant for so long now and has changed as much as when I wanted to be a cat one day and a horse the next. My goal,
achieving independence in the eyes of the government. Being from a middle class family is the pits as far as the Centrelink hierarchy. The poor get rich, the rich get richer and everyone in between is left to fend for themselves.
Working my way though various as the office bitch for two years has got me nearly on my way, mixed with the pity of friends around me doing uni and telling me to keep fighting the good fight. A word of advice, if you know someone that’s in my situation DON’T tell them stories of all the people you know that don’t deserve youth allowance and get it. There is no way I would have been able to get even this far with out changing jobs, the only people the new centerlink independence rules will benefit are the people that are already laughing at them behind there backs.
I have been in fact working so hard toward my goal of joining the ranks of those ‘Valuable’ members of society that I missed the cut off for applications and have to pay an extra 100 bucks. Story of my life.

"I've had the most amazing day"

Im a bit worn out today, back at work. However i do like being the queen of my own tiny little health food shop kingdom.

im here more then anyone else so i know everything thats going down. Its a bit to much responsibilty like now when things are all turning pear shapped and I want to run with my tail between my legs to a nice easy telemarkting job.

yesterday was one of my only days off and I packed it compeletly full of action.
Marlee and I wandered around all the best parts of newcastle and had fresh juices from a questionable store.
That afternoon I made home made bread, pizza and garlic bread and ran errands with melanie and fell asleep to the soothing sounds of harry potter 1 ahhh, what a day.

Movie to take notice of, "Beyond Biba"
She and her partner "Fitz" were part of what made the 60s so special.
Its a story of her entire life and how her stores changed the face of fashion in th 60s. the movie also shows a lot of her young life as well.

Can not wait to see it! see the tralier below.

Brisbane weekend

One of the best parts of out hotel room was the constantly reappearing tea and coffee!

we were excited to have a holiday and be out of dreary Newcastle.

I think we must have ate at every sushi place in Brisbane. The best though is the one at the front part of queen street mall. It usually has a very long line so we could only get it once. They have spider leg sushi, which we found out to our disappointment was merely soft shelled crab.
Here is Wayne embracing our Anzac's.
We often had to retire to our hotel room to rest after endless walking. This door behind me opened to our own little leafy patio with table and chairs. we liked to drink tea and coffee out there.
The city at night was so much pretty, here's the wheel at south bank.

and some of Wayne's artful shots of the city, he was very pedantic about these.

We went to just about every op shop, vintage shop and markets there. so much beautiful stuff and it was either to expensive or not quiet my taste. you can imagine my distress after saving for so long and coming back to finally buy things after my struggle of living there coming back empty handed felt like a failure.
We had to carobo load with wood fired pizza to get my spirits back up.
then off we went again.
this one was my favor, its called retro metro but everything there is so expensive (but dreamy.)
waynette.
they were surprisingly heavy!

jonny strong :)we walked around the botanical gardens for a day and got iced coffees.

one night we had this fabulous Turkish food at a lovely restaurant at south bank, i was to scared to take pictures but the place was lovely take my word for it. this was the only one i could take, of the table cloth.

The last night we went and met Julia and Erin in a church turned pancake and steak house. It was strangely decorated with some sort of saloon meets Renaissance theme, it was off putting. Especially as we were eating out burgers and Julia told us people used to take mass there.

It was a sad night because I realised how much I miss my best friend, she lives so faraway.
The next morning by seven am (sigh) we were back in Newcastle. Cold dreary windy Newcastle.

Floyd

During work I tend to day dream a lot because well... its often very slow at health food places.

Today I started thinking about what my animals would be like if they were people. so here we go (I'll add pictures in here when I get home)

Floyd.
My cat Floyd was a doomed asexual beast from the start, I thought dressing him in Christmas bows and feathers would have no ramifications. how ever i was wrong.

Floyd would be one of the prettiest boys you have ever seen, he would have large almond green eyes and long black flowing hair that from a distance makes you wonder as to his gender.
He would eye everyone with scorn while he drank red wine from waking to sleeping from a hip flask stowed in his sock garter. He would be surrounded by females who would adore him, but not in any sexual way, more of the way you adore your younger brother. completely avonguard and full of mystery, Floyd how ever would be as deep as as a paddling pool.

Alice in wonderland.

I loved this one so much I revolved my whole Major works in year 12 around them, Well music and English extension anyway.

Its a small secrete hobby of mine to look up different version and interpretations of this story. I wrote my own once actually.

I'm very excited about the Tim Burton movie coming out, the girl playing Alice is wonderfully fitting.

I think this book has affected the normal thought patterns i have today.

it makes me breathless.

in an effort to get people to look into each others eyes more, the government has decided to allot each person exactly one hundred and sixty-seven words, per day.

when the phone rings, i put it to my ear without saying hello. in the restaurant i point at Chicken Noodle soup. i am adjusting well to the new way.

late at night, i call my long distance lover and proudly say: i only used fifty-nine today. in only i saved the rest for you.

i know when she does not respond, she's used up all her words, so i slowly whisper i love you, thirty-two and a third times. After that, we just sit on the line and listen to each other
breathe.

Your not a teenager, so dont act like one.

If you were there then you would know; none of these need explaining.

I think.

I like:

People who quote straight from movies;
And make it completely random in the middle of a conversation, that's what I like. I think overall i like people who collect unnecessary facts, movie quotes feel like unnecessary facts.

People who talk to children as if their adults;
Children should be taken seriously I think. I remember when i was little and most adults where terrible to listen to what I had to say.

people who are obsessed or passionate over a particular subject;
Plants, war, whatever. People who are passionate are a mass of strange facts which is always interesting. These people are always much more fascinating, its like to collect something you can never fully take on.

Girls with crooked teeth;
cute

Freckles;
Over the nose, along the shoulders, down his back, no such thing as to many.

People saying your name in a sentence;

"yeah Holly I agree." It's unusual and makes you feel special.

Russia and mexico;
So damn nice.

Boys who can play an instrument;
I once had a friend who said
"when a boy picks up a an instrument he becomes 50 percent more attractive." I believe this to be true, or to be able to sing. wonderful.

People who can tap dance or do ballet;
I find it completely charming when people can tap-dance and make it look so easy, they bring it out without realising whilst cooking or waiting for a bus.

Well dressed boys with long hairdos and cigarettes;
The best there is, if only today was the early 60s.

People with homes full of ketch little vintage things and wallpaper;
One day I want to have one of these homes.

Large Incisors;
I have them and I love them. and boys who have them seem to be awfully good at kissing..

Children asking questions that no one can answer;
What is the universe?

People who give eye contact;
like unknown people in supermarkets.

Those who can admit they have no idea about something;
People should always be so brave to admit. Its refreshing when people recognise their shortcomings.

Boys who look like girls;
androgynous features in general is exciting.

just you wait;

Me and Alison used to fight over who was more attractive Keith Richards or mick Jagger and for the life of me i can remember which one i was rooting for.
(I hope it was Keith but I have a vague recollection of arguing for the lips..)

These days the win must be for ron woods apparently with his hawt young thing. must have missed that one...

srsly, how great is kate nash?

this is indieghetto, one of my new fave genres id say, turn off the tube and hark an ear to the brilliance that is kate nash.
